Description

Smoke is a collection of furniture characterised by baroque pieces whose structure has been burnt. For his diploma at the Design Academy in Einhoven, Martin Baas worked on furniture that was first charred and then treated with a varnish that allowed it to become functional again. Moooi now publishes several of these pieces with such an original finish. The Smoke Armchair first makes its mark with its baroque style, revealing a burnt structure, as if "rescued from a fire". Epoxy coated burnt wood is combined with a seat with black leather upholstery. Thanks to the process used, each piece of furniture is slightly different, making each chair a unique piece.

MOOOI

Marcel Wanders became known within the renowned group of designers, Droog Design. In 2001, he founded the company Moooi, which means "beautiful" in Dutch. The Moooi collection features fanciful and offbeat style, which is sometimes even provocative, and as such produces extraordinary, head-turning pieces. From the Little Bold candlestick to the Chess coffee table, the avant-garde design surprises and the industrial objects fuse reverie with the unusual. Marcel Wanders also collaborates with internationally-renowned designers such as Ross Lovegrove, Studio Job and Ron Gilad.
