Pinecone is a collection of lights available in table lamp and pendant versions. The light is made according to the ancient technique of glass-blowing in cages: the glassmaker blows the molten glass blob into a metal cage, which only partially contains its natural expansion. So, the surface of the glass is partially trapped by the cage and part escapes, creating the impression of tension as if the object struggled to free itself from its harness. The metal structure is galvanised, giving it a shiny, gleaming appearance. The transparent version of
Pinecone, in particular, reveals a double structure that multiplies the scenic effect, while the metal cage motif casts kaleidoscopic shadow effects on the surrounding surfaces. In contrast, the white version, the glass delicately wraps the surface of the cage and highlights its geometric pattern, generating an elegant, soft diffused light. The
Pinecone luminaire by
Fontana Arte produces a highly attractive effect, whether switched on or off.
