Founded in 1945,
O Luce is the doyenne of Italian lighting design companies. O Luce
creations have been a great success from the outset, thanks to their simple, refined design. Today
O Luce, a house based in Milan, Italy, has preserved this tradition of extreme quality in its Murano blown glass or in its generous and creative production. In its lighting creations,
O Luce brings together the expertise of 70 years of the art of lighting.
Designed in 1977 by Vico Magistretti for
O Luce, the Atollo lamp has become a classic of Italian design, present in several museum collections, after winning the Compasso D'Oro in 1979. Borrowing its name from the Coral Islands, it stands out from the rest of the
Atollo collection for its immaculate whiteness. The secret of the
Atollo table lamp probably lies in the assembly of its elementary geometric shapes: a cone set on a cylinder, topped by a half-sphere. This light sculpture has a dimmer switch and is available in two versions. The first one is made of black lacquered aluminium and produces a direct light emission. The second is made of frosted glass which provides both direct and diffused light. Its silhouette is highlighted by an internal light that creates a chiaroscuro effect. The
Atollo lamp features the recognisable, simple shape of a mushroom, highlighted by pleasant, warm, indirect lighting.
