Description
Following in the footsteps of the Eames Elephant children's chair, Hella Jongerius decided to take this iconic design by Charles and Ray Eames and turn it into a computer mouse pad. Still produced by Vitra, it is made from two layers of top quality leather, the same used to make the company's sofas. It can be used to support all current modern pointing devices. Elephant Pad is an original and fun gift to give or to treat yourself to a change from traditional office accessories.
Born in 1963 in de Meern, Holland, Hella Jongerius studied design at the Design Academy Eindhoven. She then attracted international attention through her collaboration with the Dutch design label Droog Design. Initially a student, she went on to teach for a year at the Design Academy Eindhoven, where she headed the Living/Atelier department from 2000 to 2004. At the same time, she set up her design studio "JongeriusLab" in Rotterdam to manufacture and market many of her creations herself, particularly tableware, vases, textiles and furniture. His work often straddles the line between design and craft, art and technology. Hella Jongerius also works with a wide range of brands, from suspension lamps for Belux (Blossom Flower) to decorative furniture for Vitra with the Bovist poufs, as well as producing plates for the prestigious Nymphenburg manufactory. Alongside Jasper Morrison and Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Hella Jongerius is the designer of a large part of the Vitra Home collection, which continues to grow. His creations have been the subject of numerous exhibitions around the world (MoMA in New York, Galerie Kreo in Paris, etc.).
