Description

Palissade is a collection of outdoor furniture designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec for the Hay brand. The series consists of a wide range of furniture, in which all the pieces share the same design principle. ThePalissade collection includes chairs, small armchairs, lounge chairs, stools, tables and benches such as the Palissade Lounge L139. Specially designed for outdoor use, these pieces are visually light but robust in their construction. Inspired by classic furniture, the Palisade collection finds its originality in the details. Although made of steel, this outdoor furniture is comfortable simply because of its design. Each piece is available in olive green, light grey or anthracite and fits very well in a natural or urban environment. With Palissade, the Bouroullec brothers have come up with a collection of sustainable outdoor furniture that goes easily with any style: a future Design Classic!

Ronan & Erwan BOUROULLEC

Born in 1971 and 1976 in Quimper, France, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec pursued their studies at the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and the École nationale supérieure d’arts in Cergy-Pontoise, respectively. In 1999, the brothers teamed up to establish a design studio in Paris. Their work spans the creation of home accessories and objects (vases, tableware, jewelry…), furniture for the home and office, as well as architectural projects that involve spatial planning and design. The chairs and armchairs by Erwan Bouroullec stand out for their organic and poetic design, combining comfort, modularity, and contemporary elegance. Among their standout creations, the "l'Algue" for Vitra, is a modular design that, when assembled, forms an asymmetrical and poetic room divider. Alongside designers like Jasper Morrison and Hella Jongerius, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec play a key role in the growing Vitra Home Collection. In recent years, they have also collaborated with brands like Alessi, Kartell and Nanimarquina designing pieces such as the Losanges rugs. Ronan et Erwan Bouroullec have earned numerous accolades, including Designer of the Year at Maison et Objet Now! in 2011, the Grand Prix du Design from the City of Paris in 1998, the New Designer Award at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York in 1999, and the Finn-Juhl Prize in Copenhagen in 2008. Their works are housed in prestigious museums, including the MoMA and the Centre Pompidou. Through their collaborations with brands like Vitra, Hay annd Flos, Ronan et Erwan Bouroullec have become icons of 21st-century design.

Hay was founded in 2002 to promote Danish design. The company Hay reinterprets the classic forms of Nordic design with a modern approach, offering friendly, aesthetic, and functional creations. Hay draws inspiration from three main areas: art, architecture, and fashion, while paying close attention to the environment and contemporary culture. The Hay chairs, like the brand’s entire furniture collection, perfectly embody this spirit: a sleek and timeless design, combining comfort and functionality with modern and minimalist lines. The Palissade outdoor collection is a must-have from the brand HAY, designed by French brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec.
