Description
Drawing inspiration from Bernd and Hilla Becher's photographs of silos and water towers, Sebastian Herkner has transposed industrial geometric structures into appealing objects. As if Becher's images stepped off the page to come to life, the Oda luminaires use deep tones and plays of transparency to create centrepieces that stand out in any space. Available as a table lamp or floor lamp, the Oda collection from Pulpo features simple yet bold lines. The fine structure contrasts with the softly curved blown-glass diffuser, creating a radiant light fitting with timeless appeal.

Sebastian HERKNER
Born in Germany in 1981, Sebastian Herkner studied Product Design at the University of Arts and Design in Offenbach, graduating in 2007. He founded his own eponymous studio in 2006, also in the same city, specialising in object and furniture design. Following an internship at Stella McCartney during his studies, he developed a real sensitivity to colours, materials and textures. "There is a sensibility and identity to my work that emphasises function, material and detail." Sebastian Herkner also works on interior architecture projects and museum exhibitions. His many collaborations testify to his talent, including ClassiCon with the famous Bell table, Moroso, Pulpo, Cappellini, Gubi, And Tradition, La Chance, Zanotta and Thonet. His curiosity for different cultures is reflected in his creations. He combines traditional craftsmanship with new technologies to achieve a certain balance. Winner of numerous awards, he has been named "Designer of the Year" by the Maison & Objet show in 2019.

Additionally, Pulpo's corporate ethics are in line with environmentally-friendly requirements; the brand only uses recyclable materials and paints free from solvents and heavy metals.
