Description

For the Emperor lighting series, the Neri & Hu design group is inspired by a Chinese legend according to which an Emperor received a nightingale as a gift and, falling in love with its song, had a woven bamboo cage built to keep it always by his side. Published by Moooi, the Emperor suspension is composed of a double shell enclosing a glass diffuser. The pendant speaks for itself with its large bamboo lampshade. Once lit, Emperor emits a diffuse light with poetic shadow play. The pendant is available in two sizes: 100cm and 160cm. It is also available as a floor lamp.

Marcel Wanders became known within the renowned group of designers, Droog Design. In 2001, he founded the company Moooi, which means "beautiful" in Dutch. The Moooi collection features fanciful and offbeat style, which is sometimes even provocative, and as such produces extraordinary, head-turning pieces. From the Little Bold candlestick to the Chess coffee table, the avant-garde design surprises and the industrial objects fuse reverie with the unusual. Marcel Wanders also collaborates with internationally-renowned designers such as Ross Lovegrove, Studio Job and Ron Gilad.
