Description

"Space within space" is a concept that Vitra has been intensively developing for many years in collaboration with designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec. The idea of a micro-architecture of mobile elements has led to a wide range of creations, among which the Alcove Sofa stands out as one of the most remarkable. The various Alcove sofas have been designed for open-plan offices, where they provide protected, private areas in a hectic or hectic environment. This makes them the ideal place to retreat to for full concentration or to conduct small meetings. The Alcove Cabin forms an isolated space that is enclosed on all sides and accessible through a single opening. It offers visual and acoustic protection for four to six people. The interior of the Alcove Cabin is a workspace in its own right, equipped with two padded seating areas and able to be further equipped with a table, electrical sockets and lighting. The version proposed here does not include an electrical outlet or lighting, contact us for more information.

Ronan & Erwan BOUROULLEC

Born in 1971 and 1976 in Quimper, France, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec pursued their studies at the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and the École nationale supérieure d’arts in Cergy-Pontoise, respectively. In 1999, the brothers teamed up to establish a design studio in Paris. Their work spans the creation of home accessories and objects (vases, tableware, jewelry…), furniture for the home and office, as well as architectural projects that involve spatial planning and design. The chairs and armchairs by Erwan Bouroullec stand out for their organic and poetic design, combining comfort, modularity, and contemporary elegance. Among their standout creations, the "l'Algue" for Vitra, is a modular design that, when assembled, forms an asymmetrical and poetic room divider. Alongside designers like Jasper Morrison and Hella Jongerius, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec play a key role in the growing Vitra Home Collection. In recent years, they have also collaborated with brands like Alessi, Kartell and Nanimarquina designing pieces such as the Losanges rugs. Ronan et Erwan Bouroullec have earned numerous accolades, including Designer of the Year at Maison et Objet Now! in 2011, the Grand Prix du Design from the City of Paris in 1998, the New Designer Award at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York in 1999, and the Finn-Juhl Prize in Copenhagen in 2008. Their works are housed in prestigious museums, including the MoMA and the Centre Pompidou. Through their collaborations with brands like Vitra, Hay annd Flos, Ronan et Erwan Bouroullec have become icons of 21st-century design.

VITRA

Vitra was founded in 1950 by Willi Fehlbaum and Erika Fehlbaum. The design furniture company Vitra is located near Basel, in Switzerland. Starting in 1981, the brand Vitra expanded and opened many subsidiaries around the world. The founders spotted the Eames chairs, including the Eames armchairs, the Vitra tables and the office chairs created by Charles and Ray Eames, Antonio Citterio or also the Bouroullec brothers.
