Description
Vico Magistretti has designed the Maui office chair for Kartell, which is characterised by its elegance and understated colours. With its simple shapes, Maui is a practical chair that adapts to any interior: both as an office and dining chair. Made of polypropylene attached to a chrome-finished steel frame, it is equipped with armrests and a base with castors, and the height can be adjusted. Available in bright and chromatic colours, the Maui collection has become a best-seller for the Kartell brand.

Vico MAGISTRETTI
Vico Magistretti was an Italian designer born in Milan in 1920 and died in his native city on 19 September 2006. He completed his architectural studies in 1945 and then joined his father's studio, where he took part in numerous architectural and design projects. His first professional recognition came in 1948, when he won the Grand Prix of the VIII Triennale.It was at the end of the 1950s that he created the Carimate wooden chair (for Cassina). Since then, Vico Magistretti has produced a string of bestsellers for major design houses including Artemide, Cassina, B&B Italia, O-Luce and Kartell. His work features in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art. His style is characterised by a search for simplicity. The Atollo lamp, created in 1977, with its almost abstract geometric simplicity, is emblematic of Magistretti's formal research.He teaches and lectures at a number of architecture faculties and design schools both in Italy and abroad, from Milan to New York, via Paris and London, a city with which he has particularly close links and where he has been an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Art since 1983.
