First produced in 1940, the lampe 9209 is one of Paavo Tynell's most iconic pieces. Similar in form and proportions to the famous 5321 lamp that was produced after it, the lampe 9209, reissued by Gubi, features a distinctively shaped shade in brass, which gave it its nickname: "Kypärä", which means "helmet" in Finnish.
Held in place by a curved brass arm, the lampshade is decorated with perforated motifs - Tynell's signature - which require a special tool and the utmost precision to create by hand. While guiding light downwards, the lampe 9209 also lets light pass through the shade, creating a soft, textured glow, a star-like radiance. The Gubi lamp is simply switched on using a discreet switch on the back of the shade.
Thanks to its shape and materials, the stand lamp 9209 has a warm expression. The brass stem is wrapped in lacquered rattan, creating a contrast with the brass, while allowing the lamp to be moved easily and comfortably.
