Designed in 1950 by Paavo Tynell, 9205 is a classic, almost archetypal lamp. Elegant and slender, the seemingly simple shape of the lamp conceals a wealth of expertise and highly skilled craftsmanship. For the canvas version, the fabric of the lampshade is attached to a lining, which is then hand-tied to a wire frame. The bamboo version is made from a series of slats hand-sewn together to form a pleated surface, which is then attached to the lining and frame. The stem of the lampe 9205 is milled with a rattan-like pattern, created by a silversmith using a lathe with great precision, to mimic the effect of a series of overlapping stripes. Edited by Gubi, the lampe 9205 beautifully combines handcrafted precision, classic proportions and natural materials in a timeless and refined piece.
