A little-known piece by Marcel Gascoin, the F-Chair made its first appearance in 1949 at the "Maison Rurale" travelling exhibition, showcasing furniture adapted to the needs of country life. However, the F-Chair was never produced on a large scale and the original editions have now become rare items. This lounge chair is based on the famous C-Chair, with elements such as the tapered back legs. Other elements have been modified to create a lounge chair: the more relaxed recline of the chair and the paddle-shaped armrests, as well as the woven seat that widens at the front.
Gubi is now reissuing this armchair in an Outdoor version. F-Chair combines a teak frame, a naturally durable and hard-wearing material, with a waterproof braided rope, made from polyethylene, and worked to capture the look of natural rope. The naturally oiled teak allows the chair to remain outdoors even in the harshest climates, without the need for additional treatment. Over time, it will develop a beautiful patina.
Created by Lisbeth and Olsen Gubi, the brand Gubi is a Danish company that has been re-editing some of the greatest design classics since 1967.
