Description

Visu is a seating collection designed by Mika Tolvanen for Muuto. Following on from the Restore baskets, the designer has reinterpreted the traditional moulded plywood chair. He has created a family of modern seating for different uses: a chair with a sled base or with wooden legs, a lounge chair and a bar stool. The seats are available in several wood colours or covered with fabric. So everyone can find a chair to suit them, or create a mixture of different coloured chairs to place around the dining room table. The lounge chair takes up very little space and combines easily with furniture of all styles in a living room.

Mika TOLVANEN

Born in Lieksa (Finland) in 1975, Mika Tolvanen opened his studio in Helsinki, in an old coffee shop in the Töölö district. Bureau Mika Tolvanen designs furniture, lighting as well as consumer goods. Mika Tolvanen is a Finnish designer of furniture, lighting and interior design products. Mika Tolvanen explains that his design focuses on function: "My products are meant to be used, but that doesn't mean they can't be beautiful. I don't have any dogmas, but I believe that good design comes from an understanding of materials and a desire to improve the way they work. An object can have a complex range of functions, but it shouldn't be complicated". As a result, his creations focus on two essential aspects of design: aesthetics and function. It's a balance that reveals rigorous work and expertise, an assiduous mastery of materials and a sensitive eye for Nordic aesthetics.
