The Paper Vipp hanging lamp is perfect for the dining room. This suspension features a textured paper shade and an interior metal grid. The paper diffuses light harmoniously and is attached to a dark oak top ring. Supported by an adjustable wire and a transparent cable, the Paper Vipp suspension lamp is ideal for placing above a dining table. Inspired by the Japanese tradition of the paper lantern, this Vipp luminaire subtly blends the craftsmanship of Asian design with cosy, subdued lighting inspired by Scandinavian décor. Supported by a fine steel wire and a transparent cable, the suspension Paper Vipp gives an impression of lightness and floating. The interior metal grid and solid oak top ring add strength and stability to the lamp's delicate construction. The creation of each sheet of paper used for the Vipp paper lamp is based on age-old artisanal papermaking methods. The manual process adds a poetic dimension, with each lampshade containing its own distinctive story and texture.
The story of Vipp began in 1939, in the small Danish town of Randers, when Marie asked her husband Holger Nielsen to create a trash bin for her new hair salon. Holger, a skilled craftsman with a keen sense of aesthetics, wanted to impress his wife and thus put all his talent into creating a pedal bin that was both functional and elegant. The bin, which he named Vipp, was never intended to be sold. However, some of Marie's clients were so impressed by its functionality that they ordered it for their husbands' medical offices and dental clinics.
