Designed in 1967 by Italian designers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, the Snoopy table lamp has now been reissued by Flos in tribute to Achille Castiglioni, who died in 2002. One of the most famous and prolific designers of Italian modernism, he explains his simple approach to design: "Start from nothing. Use common sense. Keep your objectives in mind".The Castiglioni brothers were true alchemists of form and material and approached the design of the stand lamp Snoopy with humour.
Largely inspired by the cartoon character, the Snoopy lampfrom Flos offers a perfect balance between formal expression and materials. A symbiosis of design and architecture, this direct-light table lamp combines a painted metal reflector and a white marble base in an uncertain balance. The base is in white marble and the black enamelled metal shade rests on a glass plate. For a Zen atmosphere, the intensity of the light can be adjusted to suit your mood. Italian designers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni designed the Snoopy table lamp in 1967 and Flos updated the lamp with a modern touch-sensor dimmer. So the diffuser of the Snoopy lamp emits light filtered by a transparent glass disc and obscured by the metal head, for more direct, localised lighting. The cylindrical base is angled, giving the Snoopy lamp its now iconic silhouette. Now a major piece of contemporary design, this lamp is actually part of MoMA's permanent collection. The Snoopy lamp, edited by Flos, is a design classic and perfect for lighting an office, bedroom or taking pride of place in the living room.
