Description

In 1968, the student riots in Paris, Rome and the United States overthrew the old, overly severe values and brought in the "Flower-Power" generation of peace, love and harmony. In the same year, Stanley Kubrick imagined the future, the year 2001, featuring in his film the Panton chair that had become a design classic and man was about to set foot on the moon. In the world of design, a colourful and fun pendant lamp was blooming in restaurants and exhibitions and was soon seen in homes, too. The FlowerPot lamp, with its two half spheres facing each other, features a timeless, high-quality design, edited by & Tradition. With a wide choice of colours, the FlowerPot VP9 table lamp is very practical thanks to its battery operation. With the cable removed, it can easily be moved around, finding the perfect spot in both homes and communal spaces.

Verner PANTON

Born in 1926 in Gamtofte, Denmark, Verner Panton attended technical school in Odense and then studied architecture at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. Verner Panton was employed in Arne Jacobsen's architectural practice and founded his own architecture and design studio in 1955. Verner Panton's furniture based on geometric shapes, manufactured by the "Plus-linje" company brought him public attention for the first time. Verner Panton's predilection for bright colours and geometric shapes is evident in his many textile creations, such as the cushions in the "Textiles of the 20th Century" collection. His interior designs, aimed at blending furniture, lighting, textiles and wall panels into an indivisible unit, are legendary. Verner Panton's famous collaboration with Vitra began in the early 1960s. He then developed his most famous creation, the Panton chair, presented in 1967. It is also the first product to be manufactured by Vitra on its own account. Verner Panton died in 1998 in Copenhagen. Regarded today as one of the most influential masters in the world of 20th-century Design, Verner Panton leaves behind an innovative, futuristic style using mainly brightly coloured plastic and favouring generous, atypical shapes, such as his iconic luminaires published by Verpan. Today, the iconic designs of Verner Panton are still in great demand.

And Tradition is a Danish brand founded in 2010 by Martin Kornbek Hansen. The brand offers furniture, lighting, and accessories from the 1930s to the present day. And Tradition designs practical pieces for everyday use. And Tradition adapts this heritage to contemporary design, redefining and reinventing materials and shapes, while respecting nature, which provides the essential raw materials. The company does not hesitate to reissue classics, such as the lighting designs of Verner Panton, including the collection of Flowerpot Table Lamps and Flowerpot Pendants.
