Elastica is an unusual floor lamp designed by Italian studio Habits for Martinelli Luce.
Designed in coloured elastic fabric, this stretch light extends between the ceiling and the floor, thanks to a metal base that acts as a counterweight and a support that hangs from the ceiling; this makes Elastica a particularly functional floor lamp, which adapts to the requirements of the space it lights.
Elastica from Martinelli Luce comes in a range of colours, and has an integrated LED circuit and dimmer switch.
With Elastica, designers Innocenzo Rifino and Diego Rossi of Studio Habits wanted to create a luminaire that exploited the interaction that links the light to its user: it switches on and off directly by pulling on it. The luminous flux can be controlled by slowly pulling the luminaire up or down. Elastica indirectly illuminates any type of interior, on its own or as a composition of several luminaires.

Created in 1980 by Elio Martinelli, Martinelli Luce designs and manufactures lighting systems with innovative design both in terms of shape and technology. The Martinelli Luce luminaires are inspired by nature and geometry, and are primarily designed to be functional. Among its most famous creations, the Pipistrello lamp Martinelli Luce, created by Gae Aulenti, and displayed in the world’s greatest galleries and museums, is one of the icons of design.
Since its creation, Martinelli Luce has continued to innovate by introducing new technologies for products characterized by essential design.
