Light in both form and environmental footprint, the Kata armchair has been designed with sustainability at its heart. The first solid wood armchair to be published by Arper, Kata draws its inspiration from hand-woven artisanal wooden and straw chairs to imagine a new universal typology that incorporates current ecological sustainability solutions and whose features are both graphic and warm. Kata finds its balance in juxtaposition - a tenuous nuance between material and silhouette, softness and solidity, tradition and technology.
An FSC-certified oak structure houses a custom-made 3D woven textile covering. This coating is made from recycled polyester derived from post-consumer plastics, which are transformed into light, strong fibres. The 3D weaving technology used is calibrated to delicately follow the structure of the chair, avoiding the residue and waste of material usually found in industrial manufacturing. The Kata armchair can be completely dismantled and recycled.

Founded in 1989 by Luigi Feltrin, Arper is an Italian company that produces designer furniture for the home and office. Arper provides interdisciplinary expertise driven by boundary-pushing innovation. In the late 1990s, Arper hit a turning point thanks to its collaboration with Lievore Altherr Molina, a firm that produced a series of new products, such as the Catifa and Cila chairs, and the Leaf collection. Arper's original design has won numerous awards, including the Red Dot Award 2012 and the Interior Innovation Award 2011. Notably, the brand's iconic Catifa chair won the FX International Interior Design Award in 2002 in England.
