TheCH445 armchair by Hans J. Wegner for Carl Hansen, also known as the Wing Chair, is a fully upholstered armchair that rests on a stainless steel frame. The chair, with its distinctive lines and pleasant seating comfort, is a fine example of what Wegner believes a high-back chair should be. Underneath the upholstery is a solid beech frame for strength and durability. The precise shape and density of the upholstery are carefully chosen to give the best possible support to all parts of the body. The seat and backrest of CH445 are designed to provide comfortable support for the back, shoulders, neck and head in different sitting positions. The slim, rounded stainless steel frame features slightly sloping front legs, while the rear legs project well back so that the chair does not tip over despite its reclined position. Four small cone-shaped steel elements connect the top of the chair to the frame. The Wing Chair CH445 was designed in 1960 and only a few examples had been produced. Carl Hansen & Søn relaunched the chair in 2006.
