For the
Beetle collection, Denmark's Stine Gam and Italy's Enrico Fratesti were inspired by the beetle, studying the insect's anatomy, aesthetics and movement. The
Chair Beetle met its public on its introduction in 2013 and has since become
Gubi's biggest commercial success. Thus, the collection reinterprets the characteristic elements of the beetle: its shape, joints, the rigid appearance on the outside and the softness on the inside. The
Beetle chair is a blend of classic Italian design and Scandinavian traditions. The studio's creations often play with the heritage of classic Danish design, but also with nature and more particularly the world of insects, since the
Beetle was inspired by the shell of beetles. Now available in an unupholstered version, the
beetle chair has become a collection with limitless possibilities. Its plastic shell gives it a lighter look while being very robust and more accessible. Its matt texture, which gives it a very tactile feel, is combined with exceptional seating quality. The seat and backrest are made up of two shells with curved lines that reproduce the insect's shell. The animal's legs are represented by slender, tapered feet in brass steel. The different elements of the
Beetle chair are linked and worked in a fluid way. Thanks to the multiple shell colours and base finishes available, the
unupholstered Beetle chair from
Gubi fits into all types of spaces, whether at home around a dining table or in communal environments. Its attractive design, exceptional comfort and wide range of customisation options have won over private individuals and interior designers alike, and it can now be found in many of the world's most renowned restaurants.
