The Basket collection from Gubi pays homage to the classic rattan basketry technique. The collection includes a three-seater sofa, a two-seater sofa and an armchair, all sharing the same construction and features.
Replacing the fibreglass inner shell Colombo originally used, the Basket sofa is now formed from a more environmentally-friendly steel skeleton, which lends strength and stability to the unique shape. The structure is covered in hand-woven rattan, using a technique that requires an enormous degree of skill and craftsmanship to create.
The Basket sofa features rounded cushions on the seat and back, made from comfortable foam with cylindrical cushions adding extra softness and a wrap-around effect to the sides of the seat.
